Carnival is a popular celebration with a lot of tradition in the province of Cádiz. It consists of several activities, like fancy dresses competitions, or election of the Queen of Carnival. There are also competitions and shows in which many carnival groups, like "Chirigotas" and "Comparsas" ( groups of people at Carnival in same custome and with masks) criticise with their songs the most important facts of the local, national and international life. On "Piñata Sunday" there is a very big cavalcade with fancy dresses and carriages. This festivity is realized in the streets of Chiclana, and a lot of people participate in it. |

This
festivity mixes popular display and religious feeling. The traditional processions
of the reliious carvings get a lot of popular emotion when they go along
some typical streets, being interrupted by the spontaneous expression of
the "Saeta" (a kind of flamenco-style song which is sung on religious
ocassions), or when the carvings go back to their respective temples. |

This festivity is originally linked to an old livesotck-farming trade fair and keeps this aspect in a testimonial way. Actually this Festival is, without any kind of doubt, the most representative festivity in Chiclana. Its characteristics are: typical customes, Sevillanas (typical Andalusian dance and songs) and dry sherry, typical wine from Chiclana, which is an indispensable element at the meetings in the "casetas". |

is commonly known as the Festivity of "Juanes" and "Juanas".
During this party, the most representative local aspects are personified
in figures which will later be burnt in a bonfire. It is typical to seek
"Juanes" and "Juanas" all over the city, stopping in
the middle of the path in order to taste the delicious snails, which become
these days the typical dish in every bar. |

This "Romería" (open-air festivities to celebrate a religious event) is a traditional party, with sea ambient. Virgen del Carmen goes out of the Pine Chapel (La Barrosa), and the Romería goes on to Sancti Petri. From there, the sea procession goes out, passing Sancti Petri Jet and La Barrosa Beach, and being escorted by several boats. |

This Festivity is celebrated in the surroundings of the hermitage which has the same name. It includes among its activities a street-party and burning of fireworks, in a mainly night party. During this party, people can taste the "Campanas de Santa Ana", a typical cake. |

With smells of grape harvest in the ambient, Chiclana people celebrate their Patron Saint Festivity with a procession which goes out of San Telmo Church. Before that, they make an offering of flowers and traditional treading on grapes. |

| It
is commonly called "Tosantos". Actually, this festivity has recovered
the habit of decorating the market places, in which rabbits, fishes, chickens...
offered are the main characters. They personify representative people. It
is also traditional tasting the typical "huesos de santos", which
are handmadely elaborated. |
